Buyer Guide

Buy a business in Hong Kong

From budget and screening to viewing, offers and due diligence.

Define your buyer criteria first

Write down hard constraints: total budget (including deposit, fit-out and working capital), target industries, districts, payback preference, daily involvement and required licences.

Six numbers for first-pass screening

  • Asking price
  • Average monthly turnover
  • Average monthly profit
  • Monthly rent
  • Payroll and fixed costs
  • Lease remaining term

Use listings, industries and districts. A low asking price is not automatically a good buy.

Before a deep dive

Request a data room list, sign an appropriate NDA, then verify finances, lease, licences, staff and assets. See due diligence.
